1. 黑白混杂。多用来形容须发。

   《儒林外史》第三七回：“遇见一个人，头戴方巾……花白鬍鬚，憔悴枯槁。” 夏衍 《上海屋檐下》第一幕：“ 黄 父是一个十足的乡下人……须发已经有几根花白。”

2. 引申为混淆。

   《醒世姻缘传》第十回：“ 高氏 接説：‘ 珍哥 撞见了，就嚷成一块，説 海会 是个道士， 郭姑子 是个和尚，屈枉 晁大官人 娘子养着他，赤白大晌午的，也通不避人，花白不了。’”

3. 抢白；奚落。

   元 李行道 《灰阑记》第一折：“你是我同胞亲妹子，我特来投逩着你，一文盘缠也不与我，倒花白了我这许多。”
