认识的初级阶段和初级形式。是人在实践中通过眼、耳、鼻、舌、身等感官直接同外界事物接触获得的。有感觉、知觉、表象三种基本形式。事物的现象是感性认识的对象和内容，直接感受性则是它的主要特征。它是认识的基础，但只能认识事物的现象，不能认识事物的本质，有待于上升到理性认识。
