1. 指 黄河 之水。

   《诗·卫风·硕人》：“ 河 水洋洋，北流活活。”《宋史·河渠志一》：“大都 河 水从 西大河故瀆 东北，合 赤河 而达于海。”《清史稿·河渠志一》：“明年四月，塞未竣， 河 水陡涨，衝塌东岸坝臺。”

2. 专指 黄河 。

   《吕氏春秋·有始》：“何谓六川？ 河水 、 赤水 、 辽水 、 黑水 、 江水 、 淮水 。” 北魏 郦道元 《水经注·河水五》：“ 河水 自 枝津 东北流逕 甲下邑 北，又东北流入于海。”

3. 指河神。

   范文澜 蔡美彪 等《中国通史》第四编第六章第一节：“ 帖木真 在湖边向天发誓说：‘使我克定大业，当与诸人共甘苦。苟渝此言，有如河水！’”
