1. 篇和章。泛指文字著作。

   汉 王充 《论衡·别通》：“儒生不博览，犹为闭闇，况庸人无篇章之业，不知是非，其为闭闇甚矣！” 晋 葛洪 《抱朴子·辞义》：“何必寻木千里，乃构大厦，鬼神之言，乃著篇章乎！”

2. 引申为历史。

   魏巍 《壮行集·写你鲜红的历史》：“只有下定决心，诚诚恳恳，兢兢业业，用自己的赤诚和忠心来书写今后鲜红的篇章。”《人民日报》1975.9.3：“一九七二年 中 日 两国政府发表了联合声明，结束了 中 日 间的战争状态，实现了两国邦交的正常化，从而揭开了 中 日 关系史上的新篇章。”

3. 特指诗篇。

   唐 贾岛 《寄韩潮州愈》诗：“隔 岭 篇章来 华岳 ，出 关 书信过 瀧 流。” 清 俞樾 《顾子山＜眉绿楼词＞序》：“余谓诗则诚然，若编词则又以分类为宜。盖诗而分类，势必割裂篇章，有一人一时之酬赠而分列数卷者。词则异是。”
