1. 亦作“ 遗躰 ”。旧谓子女的身体为父母所生，因称子女的身体为父母的“遗体”。

   《礼记·祭义》：“身也者，父母之遗体也。”《大戴礼记·曾子大孝》：“身者，亲之遗躰也。”一本作“ 遗体 ”。 北齐 颜之推 《颜氏家训·兄弟》：“爱先人之遗体，惜己身之分气，非兄弟何念哉？”《天雨花》第六回：“险将父母遗体，断送妖狐手内。”

2. 即亲生子。

   《汉书·霍光传》：“ 中孺 （ 霍中孺 ）趋入拜謁，将军迎拜，因跪曰：‘ 去病 不早自知为大人遗体也。’”《太平广记》卷三二一引 南朝 宋 刘义庆 《幽明录》：“上郡 胡馥之 ，娶妇 李氏 ，十餘年无子而妇卒，哭之慟：‘汝竟无遗体，怨酷何深！’” 宋 周密 《齐东野语·朱墨史》：“及 梁师成 用事，自谓 苏氏 遗体，颇招延 元祐 诸家子孙，若 范温 、 秦湛 之徒。” 清 王士禛 《香祖笔记》卷六：“ 冯祭酒 具区 《跋孙覿尚书尺牘》云：‘ 阳羡 孙老 得 东坡 弃婢而生尚书，实 坡公 遗体。’予跋《鸿庆集》既辩之矣。”

   晋 葛洪 《抱朴子·逸民》：“或有乘危冒嶮，投死忘生，弃遗体於万仞之下，邀荣华於一朝之间，比夫轻四海爱脛毛之士，何其缅然邪！” 宋 梅尧臣 《道旁虎迹行》：“伤哉此遗体，冒险轻百金。”《西游记》第七九回：“ 沙僧 道：‘朝士休怪丑陋，我等乃是生成的遗体。若我师父，来见了我师兄，他就俊了。’”

4. 指所尊敬的人的尸体。

   唐 李商隐 《为王侍御瓘谢宣吊并赙赠表》：“降悯惻於上公，厚賻礼於遗体。” 元 虞集 《考思亭记》：“墓也者，遗体之所藏也。”《说唐》第四二回：“ 柴绍 放声大哭，只得殮了 元霸 遗体，连同他的遗物和玉璽降表，回转 长安 。” 魏巍 《东方》第四部第十七章：“不一时，又找到了四位烈士的遗体。”

5. 指以前遗留下来的形体、式样。

   南朝 梁 刘勰 《文心雕龙·练字》：“《仓頡》者， 李斯 之所辑，而鸟籀之遗体也。”
