1. 领悟佛理。

   唐 王维 《与胡居士皆病寄此诗兼示学人》之一：“洗心詎悬解，悟道正迷津。” 宋 吴自牧 《梦粱录·小说讲经史》：“谈经者，谓演説佛书，説参请者，谓宾主参禪悟道等事。”《红楼梦》第一二○回：“后来待二奶奶更生厌烦，在别的姊妹跟前，也是没有一点情意，这就是悟道的样子。”

2. 引申为出家为僧。

   清 吴伟业 《赠愿云师》诗序：“甲申闻变，尝相约入山，予牵帅不果，而师已悟道，受法於 云门 具和尚 。”
