某些语言中动词跟名词或代词相应的语法范畴。代词所指的是说话的人叫第一人称，如“我、我们”；所指的是听话的人叫第二人称，如“你、你们”；所指的是其他的人或事物叫第三人称，如“他、她、它、他们”。名词一般是第三人称。有人称范畴的语言，动词的形式跟着主语的人称变化，有的语言还跟着宾语的人称变化。
