1. 城市名。位大同江中游北岸，为朝鲜西北部的城市。旧名西京，是朝鲜首都。京义铁路的中枢，水路交通便利，形势险固。公元一九四五年朝鲜战争后，成为朝鲜的政治、经济、文化中心，人口约一百五十万。附近以产金沙及无烟煤闻名，清末中日之役曾为战场。
