将金属熔化后浇入铸型中以形成预定的物件。包括制造铸型、熔化金属、浇铸和清理等工序。用砂制作的铸型应用较广，故又名翻砂。

1. 把金属加热熔化倒入砂型或模子里，使凝固成为器物。

3. 比喻培养造就。

   郭沫若 《努力把自己改造成为无产阶级的文化工人》：“我们要铸造别人的灵魂，尤必须努力铸造好自己的灵魂。” 柳青 《创业史》第一部第六章：“在十几年的漫长岁月中，她一点一滴地，无形中和有形中按照自己的心情，铸造闺女的心性。”
