地下深处的高温熔融体。具有以硅酸盐为主的复杂成分，含有大量水蒸气及其他挥发性物质。是各种岩浆岩和有关矿床的物质来源。一般认为，地幔上部的软流层可能是岩浆的主要发源地之一。
