《圣经》中的人物。上帝用泥土创造的世上第一个男人。后又取其肋骨创造了女人夏娃，让二人配为夫妇，成为人类的始祖。二人住在伊甸园中，生活美满和谐。后夏娃受到蛇的引诱，偷吃了树上的禁果，变得心明眼亮，辨真伪，知羞耻，因而受到惩罚。夫妻二人被逐出伊甸园，使女人从此增加了怀孕分娩的痛苦，使男人终年辛劳直至死后归土。

1. (希伯来文音译)。意为“被造者”、“人”。

   《圣经》故事中人类的始祖。据《旧约·创世纪》记载，上帝按自己的形象，用泥土造人，并把生气吹入其鼻孔，取名 亚当 ；又以 亚当 的肋骨造其妻 夏娃 ，将两人同置于 伊甸园 中，后因偷食园中知善恶树上的禁果而犯罪被逐。《老残游记》第十回：“ 亚当 孙子，横被摧残。” 鲁迅 《坟·摩罗诗力说》三：“ 亚当 更得一子，歷岁永永，人类益繁，於是心所思惟，多涉恶事。”
