市名。位于河南省西部，陇海、焦枝铁路在此交会。人口98万（1997年）。工业以农业机械和矿山机械制造为主。洛阳牡丹和手工艺品唐三彩有名。为中国古都之一，有龙门石窟、白马寺、关林等古迹。

1. 牡丹的别称。因 唐 宋 时 洛阳 盛产牡丹，故称。
