一种非接触的远距离探测技术。通过地面或飞机、卫星等运载工具上的传感器（照相机、扫描仪、雷达等），记录被测物体发射、反射或散射的电磁波信息，并处理为图像或计算机用磁带数据。经过分析、判断，识别各种被测物体，进而揭示它们的空间分布和变化规律。广泛用于农业、地质、海洋、水文、气象测绘、环境保护、防灾救灾、军事等领域。
