沉积岩的一种。主要由黏土矿物和细小泥质颗粒压紧、胶结而成。多具薄层状构造，质软易碎，一般不透水。分布很广。

1. 具薄页状或薄板状层理的岩石。页岩都属于水成岩，如油页岩。
