曲艺名词。通常指说讲或说唱故事的曲种，如评书、评话、弹词、鼓书等。只唱不说的曲艺俗称唱曲”。

1. 解说经书。《墨子·耕柱》：“能谈辩者谈辩，能説书者説书，能从事者从事，然后义事成也。” 宋 王安石 《都官郎中致仕周公墓志铭》：“故相 张士逊 荐公説书国学，且諭公见执政，公固谢之。” 清 叶廷琯 《吹网录·史载之方题跋》：“ 太祖 召 郭无为 於 崇政殿 説书。”

3. 论说书法。

   唐 颜真卿 《张长史十二意笔法记》：“予传授笔法之老舅 彦远 曰：‘吾闻昔日説书，若学有工而跡不至。’”

4. 表演评书、评话、弹词等。

   清 孔尚任 《桃花扇·听稗》：“兄可知道 泰州 柳敬亭 ，説书最妙。”《老残游记》第二回：“明儿 白妞 説书，我们可以不必做生意，来听书罢。” 陈登科 《风雷》第一部第五三章：“每天晚上，总有这么几个不三不四的人，跑来听 黄三 说书。”
