分布于云南等地的少数民族。约278万人(1990年)。用纳西语。曾用象形东巴文字和音节哥巴文字，现通用汉文。信东巴教。古代纳西族百科全书《东巴经》有重要文化价值。主要从事农业，兼事畜牧业。
