植物性神经系统的一部分。由脊髓第一胸节至第三腰节侧角发出神经纤维到交感神经节，再由此发出纤维分布到平滑肌、心肌和腺体，调节心脏及其他内脏器官的活动。交感神经和副交感神经两者在功能上有相互拮抗的作用。
