泛指欧、亚、非三洲连接地区。欧洲人称离西欧较远的东方地区为中东，较近的为近东。近东和中东没有明确的界线。包括伊朗、巴勒斯坦、以色列、叙利亚、伊拉克、约旦、黎巴嫩、也门、沙特阿拉伯、阿拉伯联合酋长国、阿曼、科威特、卡塔尔、巴林、土耳其、塞浦路斯和埃及等国。

1. 狭义仅指 伊朗 和 阿富汗 ；广义指 亚洲 西南部和 非洲 东北部，包括近东和 伊朗 、 阿富汗 。
