佛教用语，称僧尼死亡。

1. 佛教语。梵语的意译；音译作“般涅槃”或“涅槃”。谓诸德圆满、诸恶寂灭，以此为佛教修行理想的最终目的。故后称僧尼死为圆寂。

   唐 义净 《大宝积经》卷五六：“我求圆寂，而除欲染。” 唐 李白 《地藏菩萨赞》：“焚荡淫怒痴，圆寂了见佛。” 王琦 注：“ 贤首 云：‘德无不备称圆，障无不尽称寂。’”《水浒传》第一一九回：“你是出家人，还不省得佛门中圆寂便是死？”《红楼梦》第十七回：“他师父精演先天神数，於去冬圆寂了。”参见“ 涅槃 ”。
