清代满族的旧称。因满族起源于中国东北地区，故后来也泛指中国东北一带。

1. 国号。

   女真 人所建，后建立 清 朝。 清 阮葵生 《茶馀客话》卷一：“定居 长白山 鄂多理城 ，国号 满洲 。” 清 李慈铭 《越缦堂读书记·皇清开国方略》：“ 爱新觉罗库哩雍顺 即天女 佛库伦 所生称为天子者，定三姓之乱，遂奉为贝勒。居 长白山 之 俄朵里城 ，国号 满洲 。”

2. 族名。即满族。

   明 时以 建州女真 为核心，结合 女真 其他部和其他民族形成。 后金 天聪 九年(公元1635年)， 皇太极 废除 诸申 ( 女真 )旧号，定族名为“满洲”。《清史稿·职官志一》：“文选、考功、验封、稽勋四清吏司：郎中， 满洲 九人， 蒙古 一人， 汉 五人。”

3. 指 日本 军国主义扶植的伪 满洲国 。

   《东北人民抗日诗词选·骂老廉》：“活埋人倒栽葱，他说铁打的 满洲 不会垮。”《抗日歌谣·满洲就到头》：“杀尽东洋猴， 满洲 就到头。”

4. 旧指东北三省。

   杨朔 《雪花飘在满洲》：“一个多月后，我才接到他的一封信，从 山海关 寄来，原来他正设法要回 满洲 去。”《东北人民抗日诗词选·革命十二月》：“二月里来龙抬头， 日本 鬼子进兵占领 满洲 。”
