中国少数民族之一。人口214万（1990年）。主要分布在广西壮族自治区，部分在湖南、云南、广东和贵州等省。多住山区。有本民族语言，多通汉语文。主要从事农业，部分兼营林业。广西壮族自治区建有恭城、富川、都安等多个瑶族自治县。
