分布于贵州、湖南、云南等地的少数民族。约7384万人(1990年)。讲苗语，有文字。通用汉语文。信仰多神，崇拜自然，少部分信基督教。善于刺绣、蜡染。传统节日有苗年、四月八、龙船节、花山节、芦b168＝诘取Ｖ饕从事农林业。

1. 后裔；子孙。

2. 我国少数民族之一。半数以上在 贵州 ，其馀分布于 云南 、 四川 、 湖南 、 广西 、 广东 等地。
