紫草 [zǐ cǎo]

1. 植物名。紫草科紫草属，多年生草本。茎高约七十公分。叶互生，长椭圆形，有毛。夏日茎顶或叶腋开小白花。果实为小粒状，成熟时呈灰色，坚硬而有光泽。根部可为紫色染料。也作「茈草」。
