牡蛎，即生蚝，又称为“海里的牛奶”。其富含大量蛋白质和人体所缺的锌。食用牡蛎可防止皮肤干燥，促进皮肤新陈代谢，分解黑色素。它是难得的美容圣品。但美国食品药品监督管理局（FDA）认为生牡蛎居高风险食物之首。因其含有两种破坏力极大的病原体：诺罗病毒和霍乱弧菌。诺罗病毒可能引起胃肠炎。霍乱弧菌可引发高烧、感染性休克、皮肤溃烂性水泡，甚至可引起致命性的败血症。
