①第二次国内革命战争时期中国共产党领导下的革命军队，全称中国工农红军。参看〖中国工农红军〗。②指1946年以前的苏联军队。

1. 指红巾军。

   元 末 刘福通 等所领导的一支农民起义军。 元 无名氏 《松江谣》：“满城都是火，府官四散躲。城里无一人，红军府上坐。”《明史·韩林儿传》：“ 潁州 人 刘福通 与其党 杜遵道 、 罗文素 、 盛文郁 等復言‘ 山童 （ 韩林儿 ）， 宋徽宗 八世孙，当主 中国 ’。乃杀白马黑牛，誓告天地，谋起兵，以红巾为号……时皆谓之‘红军’，亦称‘香军’。” 明 陶宗仪 《辍耕录·旗联》：“中原红军初起时，旗上一联云：‘虎賁三千，直抵 幽 燕 之地；龙飞九五，重开大 宋 之天。’”

2. 中国工农红军的简称。

   毛泽东 《长征》诗：“红军不怕远征难，万水千山只等闲。” 丁玲 《一颗未出膛的枪弹》：“红军好嘛！今年春上咱哥哥到过苏区的，说那里的日子过得好，红军都帮忙老百姓耕田咧！”

3. 指1946年以前的 苏联 陆军。
