1. 忽然。

2. 一会儿。

   《儿女英雄传》第二一回：“连嘴説，带手比，忽而嚷，忽而笑的，向众人説了一遍。” 茅盾 《子夜》十二：“他的心忽而卜卜地跳得很兴奋，忽而又像死了似的一动不动。”

3. 假使；倘或。

   《敦煌变文集·秋胡变文》：“忽而一朝夫至，遣妾将何申吐？” 蒋礼鸿 通释：“这都是假使 秋胡 回来的意思。”
